Art Matters Collective Gallery<\/p><\/div>\n

Well Gwynne and friends\u00a0did it!
\nArt Matters Society\u00a0opened the art centre —\u00a0gallery & artist collective — August 1, at 5417 Argyle Street. \u00a0They have a gallery, store, workshop area and a small stage for performance art. They also have a 540 sq foot back space that overlooks the harbour and will be used for gatherings and good weather workshops. They have an event coming up that they\u00a0would really like to promote: Summer Feast-6:30-9:30 PM Sat August 27th<\/span><\/span> at the centre. $6 for non members and $5 for members of the Art Matters Society collective. Food and a chance to meet the collective and see this exciting new space. Artists on the gallery wall right now inlcude Jillian Mayne, Ann McIvor, Robert Gunn, Kristen Hunt, Rachel Rose, Jen Fisher-Bradley, Joan New and Tehani Burnett.<\/p>\n

As well, they\u00a0have workshops starting in September. Saturday<\/span><\/span> drop in art classes for kids Sept 10<\/span><\/span>, 17 and 24th, 11 AM-12:30 PM<\/span><\/span>.September 10th<\/span><\/span> we are also having a garage sale\u00a0 of unique and artistic stuff. 8 AM-noon<\/span><\/span>. On September 17th<\/span><\/span>\u00a0they are performing The Curse of the Pharaoh’s Tomb at 7 PM<\/span><\/span> -$5 for non members, $4 for members.<\/p>\n

Other workshops that start in September: writing classes for adults, colour your own tarot, tole painting, button art and painting classes. To become a member and show your art at the centre and to receive discounts for all events and workshops you can take out a $25 membership. Community support members pay $20 and receive discounts.<\/p>\n
